Tsisti Dangarembga’s three novels—Nervous Conditions, The Book of Not, and This Mournable Body—have had an enormous impact on women’s writing in Africa and around the world. She’ll discuss all three works in a career-spanning conversation with Courtney J. Martin.

The event will also be livestreamed on the Yale Center for British Art YouTube channel.

Courtney J. Martin is the Paul Mellon director of the Yale Center for British Art. Previously, she was the deputy director and chief curator at the Dia Art Foundation, taught at Brown University and the University of California, Berkeley and worked at the Ford Foundation. She received a doctorate from Yale University. She sits on the boards of the Chinati Foundation, the Center for Curatorial Leadership, Hauser & Wirth Institute and the Henry Moore Foundation.

All festival events are free and open to the public. Audience members must be vaccinated and boosted and should be prepared to show proof of vaccination. Masks will be required at most indoor events.
