Lorna Goodison is best known for her poetry, her essays, and her stories, but she is also a trained visual artist who once painted in the Arts Students League alongside Jacob Lawrence. Tess Korobkin talks with Goodison about Lawrence's Workshop.

Tess Korobkin is an art historian specializing in the art and visual culture of the United States, with particular interests in histories of sculpture, representations of race and violence, and the politics of materiality and intermediality. Her book project, Sculptural Bodies of the Great Depression, examines the public life of figurative sculpture in the 1930s. In 2018-2019, she will be a James Smithson Postdoctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution, and in fall 2019 she will join the faculty at University of Maryland, College Park.
