Nonfiction prize recipients Maya Jasanoff and Ashleigh Young talk with Briallen Hopper about fact-based writing and the imagination.

Briallen Hopper’s book of essays on love and friendship is forthcoming from Bloomsbury. Her writing has appeared in Beliefnet, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The New Republic, and Newsweek, among other places. Hopper is a Faculty Fellow at the University Church in Yale, Ezra Stiles College, and the Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration. She was educated at Tacoma Community College, the University of Puget Sound (B.A.), Princeton University (M.A., Ph.D.), and Yale Divinity School.
