Set in 1961 in Goa near the end of Portuguese rule, Trikal follows the lives of the fictional Souza Soares family. Starring Leela Naidu, this film will form part of a discussion on Tuesday, September 20 on women in Indian film. Introduced by visiting fellow Lawrence Liang.

Lawrence Liang is the co-founder of the Alternative Law Forum. He holds an MA in Law and Development from the University of Warwick, as well as a PhD in Film Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University and a post-graduate diploma in Cultural Theory from Centre for Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore. Over the course of his career he has immersed himself in human right issues, media law, and legal writing. He is currently a visiting fellow at Yale.
